My Coney Island Memories

I have so many memories... where do I begin. How about all of us riding the Surf Ave bus to Nostrand Ave, headed to Jahn's for the kitchen sink? Playing Johnny on the Pony against the red brick house in the Big Park, or the make-out sessions in Jodie's house, with her parents sound asleep in the next room LOL. Joey, you having a crush on my mom and I remember that you used to blush so bad every time you saw her! Hanging out sometimes at the "Spot" in Sea Gate, Tuesday night fireworks, pizza at Larry and Vinny's, or the knish place. The back room at Nathan's. Oh my gosh, I could go on and on. If only we could go back to those days...Garguilo's. Do you all remember when we were cheerleaders at the "Y" for the basketball games, the outfits, learning the cheers? Oh my gosh...come on guys, let's hear some more memories.

Hi Audrey,

I posted a picture of us as cheerleaders from the Y; we had a blast at the basketball games.

I also remember going dancing at the RIV in Sea-gate, doing a 'line' dance... what was the song we did that to?

My dad was a bus driver and we loved when he would get the Sea-gate route. We'd meet him just inside the gate and ride around and around Sea-gate on his bus.

Do you all remember Washington Baths? We thought going to a pool was the greatest thing.... but we had the ocean! What do kids know, right?

And Larry & Vinny’s pizza was the best. It is too funny that now we have to have at least 3 extra toppings on pizza but back then a plain cheese pizza was all we had, or wanted. What happened? Is it California pizza or just that Larry & Vinny’s was that good!

Merrill,

For some reason I think the name of the line dance was the continental but I still can think of the song...

I remember playing paddleball practically all day long. Having my sweet Uncel Hymie calling me from the boardwalk asking me if I want pizza or a potato knish from Sam's. Uncle Hymie always had a kasha knish! Then back down to Al, the ice cream man for a 'humorette', then back to playing. We had a pretty damn good life back then. Watching fireworks on my fathers shoulders, making all the ooooooh and aaaaaah's at the right moments...Yea, those really were the days....

What happened to the section when we were young? It had so many pictures of all of us.
